Arthur Lee Moser

November 30, 1925 – June 26, 2017

Arthur Lee Moser, 91 of Peoria, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at OSF St Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born November 30, 1925 in Roanoke, Illinois to Fred and Marie (Bechtel) Moser; he married Mildred Hoerr on December 14, 1952 in Peoria and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Brad (Kathy) Moser of Idaho, Paul (Marilyn) Moser of Peoria, Lynne (Dan) Green of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and Anne (Peter) Thulson of Denver, Colorado; his grandchildren, Miriam, Joel, Joshua, Lindy, Andrew, Melanie, David, Fred, Magdalen, and Walker; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Steffen and his great grandson, Jace Hersey. Art was a WWII US Army Veteran. After the war, he earned a Bachelor degree from Goshen College. He earned his first post-graduate degree, Masters of Mathematics from Notre Dame in 1959. Additional degrees earned from Bradley University were a Master of Fine Arts and a Master of Counseling. Art was a lifelong scholar of science, mathematics and theology. He served as a Professor of Mathematics at Illinois Central College in East Peoria from its founding in 1968 until his retirement in 1992. Before joining the college faculty, he was a teacher at Richwoods High School in Peoria for several years. Art and Millie earned their counseling degrees together and his legacy is vested in the countless young men he counseled and mentored. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and served as an Elder and teacher in the church for 45 years. Art is remembered as an outstanding husband and father who integrated his faith into the fabric of his life and this was demonstrated through his humble and down to earth nature, which enabled him to communicate complex concepts to people of all walks of life. There will be a funeral service at 11:00 am Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Hopwood officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 9:00 – 11:00 am, also at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Memorials are suggested to the Southside Mission.
